This past weekend, Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., held a single-owner auction featuring The Del Posto Collection. 100% of the 3,422 lots were sold, bringing in $5.7 million against a pre-sale estimate of $3.0-4.5 million. Nearly 1,000 bidders from 4 continents and 16 countries participated in the sale via HDH’s industry-leading bidding platform.

The fierce bidding drove over 80% of all lots to sell above their high estimates. Many lots shattered world record prices including two 12 bottle lots of 2010 Barolo Riserva, Monfortino, Giacomo Conterno which each sold for $21,510 (est. $12,000-15,000) and a full case of 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Case Basse (G. Soldera) which brought in $15,535 (est. $5,500-7,000).

The Del Posto team built a remarkable collection that struck a chord with bidders thanks to a focus on quality wines that spanned regions and price points. It was a collection built to be enjoyed by wine lovers, and the market reacted as such. "We are honored to have represented The Del Posto Collection. With this auction, Joe Bastianich has proven, with an exclamation point, that Italian wines are among the elite collectible wines of the world," remarked President, Ben Nelson.

Hart Davis Hart’s next auction will be held August 20 & 21. The auction house is currently accepting consignments for upcoming fall and winter auctions, including their inaugural Hong Kong sale.
