Last week, Hart Davis Hart's two-day Auction of Finest and Rarest Wines brought in a total of $8,024,592, surpassing the pre-sale low estimate of $6,038,160. The sale achieved a notably strong 99.6% sell-through rate over 1700+ lots. Our industry-standard online bidding platform welcomed active participation from bidders in 15 different countries.
Collectors enjoyed particularly unique selections in this sale, from perfectly stored century-old Bordeaux to the top niche Burgundy of this decade. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti dominated the top ten lots, with a 3L bottling of 2006 Romanée-Conti crowned king at over $95,000. The Meadows Cellar brought us twelve vintages of Château d'Yquem going back to 1945. An enormous assortment of large formats from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and Piedmont reigned supreme throughout the sale.
On day one of the sale, HDH welcomed guests at the Four Seasons Chicago for its Annual Bordeaux Tasting, this year a 20 Vintage Retrospective of Pichon Comtesse, dating back to 1970. Day
two brought clients together at Chicago's beloved Avec Restaurant for a lively bidding party, chatting through bids and opening bottles.
Mark your calendar for the last sale of the year, December 20th-22nd, a three-day auction that promises to bring even more excitement. Reach out to the HDH team any time about bidding strategies, consigning this winter, or for a complimentary appraisal: consignments@hdhauctions.com.
